What moves Huma Finance's price
- The actual business is payment-settlement credit, not consumer lending: payment institutions draw stablecoin liquidity to settle flows around the clock and repay in one to five days from payment receivables, paying roughly 6–10 basis points per day. The main origination channel is Arf, a Switzerland-based liquidity platform (a member of the VQF self-regulatory association — not a bank) that merged with Huma on 17 April 2024, the two brands operating under one holding company. Growth or contraction in that settlement-financing demand is the fundamental driver.
- The headline metrics are company-reported and unaudited — and that framing matters: Huma announced cumulative transaction volume passing $10 billion in February 2026 (from $2.9 billion a year earlier) and claims zero credit defaults since inception. No independent audit of the default record exists. What is independently observable: about $195 million of deposits on Solana per DefiLlama, and the exchange market data.
- The unlock overhang is the dominant token-supply story: investors (20.6%) and team/advisors (19.3%) — nearly 40% of supply combined — sit behind a cliff that the project voluntarily extended by six months in April 2026, from May to 26 November 2026, after which those allocations vest quarterly for about three years. Analysts framed the extension as deferring, not eliminating, the dilution event.
- Yield level and sustainability: Huma 2.0 launched on Solana in April 2025 advertising 10.5% USDC APY from payment-financing fees, updated monthly; trackers recorded the rate stepping down to about 9% in Q3 2025 and about 8% in Q4 2025. The yield is backed by receivables rather than emissions, but it depends on sustained borrower demand and on credit performance that is self-reported.
- A small but real security incident is on the record: in May 2026 a logic bug in Huma's deprecated V1 contracts on Polygon was exploited for about $101,400 in USDC. Huma paused the remaining V1 contracts and said the live Solana products were unaffected.
- The post-launch drawdown, stated plainly: HUMA peaked in its Binance listing week (CoinGecko: $0.1156 on 26 May 2025) and fell roughly 90% peak-to-trough to its February 2026 all-time low near $0.011, recovering to trade about 80% below the high. Skeptics exist in print — a PANews analysis compared the model's risks to China's collapsed P2P-lending sector and flagged the partially centralised credit-assessment module as a regulatory focal point.
“The headline metrics are company-reported and unaudited: $10 billion in cumulative volume and zero credit defaults are Huma’s own figures.”
About Huma Finance
Huma Finance was founded in April 2022 in San Francisco by Erbil Karaman, Richard Liu, Ji Peng and Lei Du. It began as an income- and receivables-backed lending protocol, raising an $8.3 million seed in February 2023 led by Race Capital and Distributed Global, with ParaFi, Circle Ventures, Folius and Robot Ventures participating. Its defining move came through Arf, a Swiss cross-border settlement-liquidity platform backed by the Stellar Development Foundation and using Circle's USDC: after generating over $1 billion in financed payments together, the two companies merged on 17 April 2024 under a holding company. In September 2024 Huma raised a further $38 million — $10 million in equity led by Distributed Global plus $28 million invested into real-world assets on the platform — with HashKey Capital, the Stellar Development Foundation and İşbank's venture arm among the participants.
In April 2025 Huma launched Huma 2.0 on Solana, its first permissionless product, letting retail depositors supply USDC for payment-financing yield through a composable LP token integrated with Jupiter, Kamino and RateX; the institutional pools remain permissioned. The HUMA token generated on 26 May 2025 as Binance's 70th Launchpool project and listed the same day with a Seed Tag. By February 2026 the company reported more than $10 billion in cumulative volume, and in April 2026 the team and investors extended their own lockups six months to November 2026, committing to launch on-chain governance by that date. Token utility today is governance via staking plus ecosystem incentives; revenue-linked value accrual is a stated 2026 roadmap commitment, not a live mechanism.
HUMA tokenomics
Maximum supply is 10 billion HUMA, with 17.33% circulating at the token generation event. The published allocation: 31% liquidity-provider and ecosystem incentives (quarterly releases decaying about 7% per quarter, adjustable by governance), 20.6% investors, 19.3% team and advisors, 11.1% protocol treasury, 7% exchange listings and marketing, 5% initial airdrop plus about 2.1% in a second airdrop, 4% market makers, 2% pre-sales and a small strategic swap. Investor and team allocations were locked twelve months and the project extended that to eighteen — the first tranche moved from May to 26 November 2026 — then vest quarterly over roughly three years, into 2029. The token's live utility is staking-based governance and incentives; no operating buyback or fee-share mechanism exists yet, though 'deflationary mechanics' tied to protocol revenue are on the published 2026 roadmap. Note that CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko disagree on current circulating supply; this page follows our CoinMarketCap feed.

Huma Finance FAQ
What is PayFi?
Payment financing: supplying on-chain stablecoin liquidity so payment institutions can settle real-world flows — cross-border transfers, card settlement — instantly instead of pre-funding accounts, repaying within days from payment receivables. Huma coined the term and runs the largest network built around it.
How does Huma generate yield?
Institutions borrowing settlement liquidity pay fees of roughly 6–10 basis points per day on advances that repay in one to five days. Those fees, recycled across many short cycles, fund depositor yield — about 10.5% USDC APY at launch, stepping down to roughly 8% by late 2025. It is real-yield from receivables, not token emissions.
Has Huma ever had a default or been hacked?
The company reports zero credit defaults across more than $10 billion in cumulative volume — a claim that is its own reporting and not independently audited. Separately, a deprecated V1 contract on Polygon was exploited for about $101,400 in May 2026; Huma paused the old contracts and said live products were unaffected.
When do HUMA tokens unlock?
The big one is 26 November 2026: the investor and team/advisor cliff (nearly 40% of supply combined), voluntarily extended six months from its original May 2026 date. After the cliff, those allocations vest quarterly over about three years, into 2029.
Is HUMA on Binance?
Yes. It was Binance Launchpool project number 70 (250 million HUMA farmed over three days) and opened spot trading on 26 May 2025 with a Seed Tag, in USDT, USDC, BNB, FDUSD and TRY pairs.
Why is HUMA down so much from its high?
It peaked in its listing week (CoinGecko: $0.1156 on 26 May 2025) and fell roughly 90% peak-to-trough to a February 2026 low near $0.011 — the familiar low-float launch arc, with only 17.33% of supply circulating at launch and the market pricing in the vesting schedule ahead. It has since recovered part of the drop.
