The gap to the record

Getting back to $2.41 from here would take a 4.0× move — that multiple, not the percentage, is the honest way to read a drawdown. The figure above updates every hour as our price snapshot refreshes; the record itself is an editorial fact recorded from CoinGecko - Aster.

All-time low

What moves Aster's price

  • The volume-verification dispute: DeFiLlama delisted Aster's perp volume data in October 2025 after finding its reported per-pair volumes — up to ~$100 billion daily — correlated almost 1:1 with Binance's, a pattern rarely seen in organic markets. Aster's CEO attributed it to airdrop farmers hedging on Binance and the platform banned wash trading from its points rules; DeFiLlama relisted the data two weeks later while calling the DEX 'still a black box.' Every Aster volume figure should be read as reported, not verified.
  • The CZ and YZi Labs association: CZ's venture arm holds a minority stake, ex-Binance team members build the product, and CZ's public endorsements powered the launch-week run — a roughly 1,650% jump in the first 24 hours and about 24x from the TGE-day low to the $2.41 peak in seven days. Narrative dependence on one figure cuts both ways.
  • The Hyperliquid rivalry: Aster briefly overtook Hyperliquid in reported perpetuals volume in late September 2025 and trades as the challenger in the perp-DEX race, so relative volume and market-share prints move the token — with the caveat that Aster's side of the comparison is the disputed one.
  • Buyback and burn mechanics: since June 17, 2026, 99% of daily platform fees buy back ASTER via TWAP into a public on-chain wallet for veASTER stakers, while an equal amount is burned bi-weekly from reserves until total supply falls from 8 billion to 3 billion. The announcement moved the price about 12% in a day; fee flow is now directly linked to supply reduction.
  • The unlock overhang: roughly two-thirds of the 8 billion supply is still locked, vesting linearly over about 80 months into 2032, including a 53.5% airdrop allocation — a persistent structural sell-pressure clock.
  • Own-chain execution: Aster Chain, a layer-1 with zero gas fees and default transaction privacy, went live in March 2026; adoption or failure of the chain and its permissionless spot listings (50,000 USDT fee, routed to buybacks) is the fundamental signal beyond perps.

“DeFiLlama delisted Aster's perp volume data in October 2025 after finding its reported per-pair volumes — up to ~$100 billion daily — correlated almost 1:1 with Binance's, a pattern rarely seen in organic markets.”

KEY DRIVER · THE VOLUME-VERIFICATION DISPUTE

About Aster

Aster was formed when Astherus, a yield protocol, merged with APX Finance, a BNB Chain perpetuals platform, rebranding in March 2025; APX holders converted to ASTER through a decaying swap. The ASTER token launched on September 17, 2025 with 704 million tokens (8.8% of supply) airdropped to points farmers, and — propelled by CZ's endorsement and YZi Labs' disclosed minority stake — ran from a TGE-day low near $0.10 to $2.41 within a week, briefly passing Hyperliquid in reported perp volume.

The run was immediately followed by the project's defining controversy: DeFiLlama delisted Aster's perp volume data in October 2025 over near-perfect correlation with Binance volumes, Aster blamed airdrop-farming hedgers and tightened its points rules, and the data was relisted with an explicit 'we can't verify the numbers' caveat. Since then Aster has shipped its own privacy-focused layer-1 (March 2026) and an aggressive fee-funded buyback-and-burn program (June 2026), while the token trades roughly 74% below its all-time high.

ASTER tokenomics

Max supply is 8 billion ASTER: 53.5% airdrop, 30% ecosystem and community, 7% treasury, 5% team, 4.5% liquidity and listings. About 8.8% unlocked at the September 2025 TGE and the remainder vests linearly over roughly 80 months into 2032, so unlock pressure is continuous rather than cliff-shaped. Since June 2026, 99% of daily fees fund TWAP buybacks distributed to veASTER stakers, matched by equal bi-weekly burns from reserves targeted to cut total supply to 3 billion.

SUPPLY
Max supply is 8 billion ASTER, with only about a third circulating as of mid-2026; the rest vests linearly into roughly 2032.

How to buy Aster

ASTER graduated from Binance Alpha to the Binance spot market on October 6, 2025 (USDT, USDC, and TRY pairs, listed with Binance's Seed Tag for early-stage volatile assets) and also trades on Bitget, KuCoin, MEXC, and Gate, plus Aster's own spot market. It was not listed on Coinbase as of mid-2026.

Aster FAQ

Is Aster the same as Astar (ASTR)?

No. Aster (ASTER) is the perpetuals DEX token launched in September 2025 from the Astherus–APX Finance merger. Astar (ASTR) is an unrelated Polkadot-ecosystem network. The tickers are one letter apart; check the contract or CMC listing before trading.

Were Aster's huge trading volumes real?

Disputed. DeFiLlama delisted Aster's perp volume data in October 2025 because reported volumes correlated almost 1:1 with Binance's and order-level data wasn't available to verify them. Aster attributed the pattern to airdrop farmers hedging on Binance and banned wash trading from its points program; DeFiLlama relisted the data but said it still couldn't verify the numbers.

What is CZ's connection to Aster?

CZ's investment firm YZi Labs holds a disclosed minority stake, CZ confirmed former Binance team members are behind the project, and his public endorsements fueled the September 2025 launch rally. He does not run the platform, but the association is central to how the market prices ASTER.

How does the ASTER buyback and burn work?

Since June 17, 2026, 99% of daily platform fees automatically buy back ASTER via TWAP into a public on-chain wallet; those tokens go to veASTER stakers, and an equal amount is burned from reserves every two weeks until total supply falls from 8 billion to 3 billion. Spot-listing fees of 50,000 USDT per listing also feed the buyback.

What was ASTER's all-time high?

About $2.41 on September 24, 2025 per CoinGecko, one week after the token launched near $0.10. The token has since given back most of that move; the hourly-refreshed price at the top of this page shows where it trades relative to the peak.
