ETH Steady Near $1,844 as BitMine Eases ETH Buying — Markets · CryptoNewsAlert feature card

ETH held near $1,844 while a big buyer stepped back

The headline worry with a corporate treasury slowing its purchases is a demand vacuum. The tape does not show one. Ethereum trades at about $1,843.96 in our CoinMarketCap price data, and the short-term trend is mildly positive rather than broken.

Here is where the money and the momentum sit:

  • ETH price: roughly $1,843.96, according to our CoinMarketCap data.
  • 24-hour change: up 0.55%, per the same feed.
  • Seven-day change: up 2.63%, based on our licensed data.
  • 30-day change: up 5.96%, from our CoinMarketCap feed.
  • 24-hour trading volume: about $7.21 billion, per our data.
  • Market capitalization: roughly $222.53 billion, according to our CoinMarketCap data.

None of those readings signal a coin under acute selling pressure. A green day sits on top of a green week and a green month.

The buyer is a self-styled Ethereum treasury

BitMine Immersion Technologies, which trades under the ticker BMNR, describes itself on its own website as “the World’s Premier Ethereum Treasury,” a platform “dedicated to maximizing ETH per share.” Its stated mission is strategic treasury management and native protocol participation on Ethereum.

That framing matters. A company built to accumulate ETH per share becomes, in effect, a standing bid for the coin. When such a buyer slows purchases and redirects capital toward buying back its own stock, the marginal demand it supplied to the spot market thins out.

BitMine is an active SEC filer. A full-text search of EDGAR returns 332 matching 8-K disclosures tied to the company, with recent filings dated as far into 2026 as its February 17, 2026 8-K covering disclosure items 7.01 and 9.01.

One corporate bid against $7.2 billion in daily flow

Scale is the reason the reaction stayed muted. Ethereum turned over about $7.21 billion in a single day, our CoinMarketCap data shows. Set any one company’s periodic accumulation against a market clearing billions daily, and a slowdown from a single treasury buyer is a ripple, not a wave.

The 24-hour move of plus 0.55% is well inside normal daily noise for a layer-1 asset of this size. If slowed accumulation were forcing a repricing, you would expect the daily and weekly figures to diverge sharply. They do not.

Why the pivot to buybacks changes the story for holders, not the price yet

A shift from buying ETH to buying BMNR shares is a capital-allocation decision aimed at shareholders. It compresses the flow of new corporate money into spot Ethereum, but it does not touch the network’s fundamentals or the far larger pool of exchange and on-chain liquidity that sets ETH’s price.

The monthly frame is the cleaner read here. Ethereum is up 5.96% over 30 days in our data, a stretch long enough to absorb a demand adjustment from any single buyer. The weekly gain of 2.63% sits comfortably below the month’s pace, consistent with a market that is drifting higher rather than surging or breaking.

So far, the numbers describe continuity. The buyer’s strategy changed; the coin’s trading profile largely did not.

The figure that dwarfs the buyer

BitMine’s accumulation, however large in corporate terms, competes with a coin whose full network value clears at institutional scale every day. Ethereum’s market capitalization stands at roughly $222.53 billion, according to our CoinMarketCap data.
